The course is an introduction to constructing narrative meaning through visual media authorship. Through the examination of basic visual components and their relation and impact on viewers’ perceptions, perspectives and understandings, we will analyse examples of visual media that are drawn from art, advertising, political campaigns, TV news, documentary, photography, film and video.
Exploring the influence of visuals and how they impact on society, ideology and culture.
After completing the course, students will be conversant with contemporary theories of visual communication and have an understanding how visual messages are made and disseminated, both within traditional and digital (new) media.
